Crate training is not optional — it is one of the most important things you can do for your Cavapoochon from day one. Despite their velcro-dog nature and love of being close to you, Cavapoochons genuinely benefit from having a space that is entirely their own: a calm, enclosed den where they can rest, decompress, and feel completely secure.

Done correctly, your Cavapoochon will choose to go into their crate voluntarily. It becomes their retreat — not a place of confinement, but a place of comfort. The investment of time in the first few weeks pays off for the entire life of your dog.

Why Crate Training Is Essential for Cavapoochons?

Cavapoochons are emotionally sensitive dogs. Without a structured resting space, they can become overtired, overstimulated, and prone to separation anxiety — particularly in busy family homes. A crate gives them:

Around 30 minutes before bed, begin winding down: reduce noise and activity, dim the lights, and take your puppy for a final toilet break. Settle them into the crate with a chew or a Kong, lower the crate cover fully (ensuring good airflow), and keep the room quiet. For the first few nights, placing the crate next to your bed so your puppy can hear and smell you will significantly reduce night-time crying. As they settle over the following weeks, you can gradually move the crate to its permanent location.

Stick to the same routine every night. Cavapoochons are quick learners, and within a week or two most puppies will begin walking into their crate at bedtime without any prompting.

Quiet Time During the Day
